Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion went viral for her freestyling skills on social media and was signed to 300 Entertainment in 2018 before joining Jay-Z's Roc Nation. In 2019, she released her mixtape "Fever" following by her debut studio album "Good News" in 2020.

Her singles "Savage" featuring Beyoncé and "WAP" alongside Cardi B both hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2020. She went on to win three Grammy Awards in 2021, including Best New Artist, becoming the second female hip-hop artist to do so.

Megan is also known for her alter ego Tina Snow, inspired by Pimp C's alias Tony Snow. She also originated the catchphrases "hot girl summer" and "real hot girl s--t."

In 2020, Megan made headlines after being shot by fellow rapper Tory Lanez, who was charged with assault with a semiautomatic handgun. He pled not guilty. Megan opened up about the incident in an op-ed for The New York Times titled, "Why I Speak Up for Black Women." Her beef with rapper DaBaby was sparked by the shooting incident.
