This Birth Photo Shoot Got Real When Mom Couldn't Make It To A Hospital Bed

Mother Jes Hogan had Little Leapling photographer Tammy Karin on standby to take photos of the birth of her sixth child. Bored Panda reports that Karin was ready, because Hogan had been experiencing contractions for days. The parents decided it was time to go to the hospital, because the contractions hadn't led to labor, and they thought it may have to be induced. That's not exactly what happened—basically as soon as everyone arrived at the ER, baby Max decided he was ready to come out. Like, extremely ready.
Hogan ended up giving birth in the hospital hallway and it was pretty dramatic:
Brace yourself. The following photos show a woman giving birth extremely explicitly. Ready? Okay.
Hogan's husband, Travis, was on hand to catch Max. He'd had some warning.
“As we neared the last turn to the hospital I began screaming that baby was coming,” Hogan told BP. “Travis honked the horn rapidly as I screamed through the contractions and he pulled quickly into the ER drive.”
Karin tried to notify the receptionist that they needed medical personnel immediately, but it was too late.
“Oh god, he’s here,” Hogan says she yelled. “I then started to take my pants off because I could feel my body pushing the baby’s head out. I reached down and could feel his head crowning with my hand. I looked at my husband and said, 'Travis catch him!' Without any hesitation, he did just that as I felt my body involuntarily pushing his head the rest of the way out.”
A medical professional did make it to Hogan's side, thankfully, but nature did most of the work in this instance.
And so, Max was born on the floor of a hospital hallway.
But it doesn't seem like Hogan cared. That's a moment you kind of get lost in?
“It was my craziest birth, but also, the most perfect. It was not at all what I had planned, but it ended without any intervention, with a healthy baby, and amazing support people by our sides. It was beautiful and I’ll forever love every memory of it," she said.
Max is the couple's first son, and obviously a scene stealer already.
Karin also put together a little video with more of the birth story on Facebook.
Her pictures of this unusual birth went viral, but Karin wants to be clear that it wasn't an accident that she was on hand for the big moment. It's her job, and she takes lots of photos of moms in the moment they bring a kid into the world.
They just usually do it someplace more planned. Congrats to the beautiful family!
